New Mexico's General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2. You must have registered with your county clerk by Tuesday, October 5 to vote in this election. Check on the status of your registration here.

Voting Absentee

• In New Mexico, any qualified citizen can vote using an absentee ballot.

• The voter can request an absentee ballot by contacting their County Clerk’s office (see reverse).

• The deadline to request an absentee ballot is October 29, but voters who want to ensure that their ballot is received on time should make the request as far in advance of this deadline as possible.

• If the absentee ballot is not received, the voter may show up at their polling place on Election Day and vote using a replacement absentee ballot.

Voting Early

Do yourself a favor and get your voting done early.

• Starting on October 5, voters may go to their County Clerk’s office, request an absentee ballot and vote on the spot.

• Starting on Saturday, October 16 most counties will open alternate early voting sites to allow voters to cast ballots before Election Day.

• Early voting, at both County Clerk’s offices and alternate early voting sites, will end on Saturday, October 30.

ID Requirements

• Only first time voters who registered by mail and didn’t submit ID with the registration application must produce a current physical ID to cast a ballot.

• Everyone else can satisfy New Mexico’s voter ID requirement by either showing physical ID or simply by stating their name, registration address and year of birth.

• The physical ID could include, but is not limited to, a driver’s license, utility bill, bank statement, government check, student or tribal ID, or other government document. The ID does not need to include a current address.

Voting on Election Day

Tuesday, Nov. 2, is Election Day. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
