About Us
Count Every Vote New Mexico is a project of Common Cause New Mexico.
Established in 2008, Count Every Vote New Mexico (CEVNM) is a collaborative non-partisan election protection program designed to monitor New Mexico elections and assist voters with the electoral process. During the 2008 election cycle, CEVNM reached hundreds of thousands of voters statewide, with a focus on serving major population centers in the state as well as vulnerable populations in rural areas. CEVNM has support from both major political parties and is relied upon by nonprofit organizations and the media for accurate election information.
Modeled after a similar program created by Common Cause Colorado, we work with election administrators around the state to assess election preparedness. We educate voters about deadlines and other crucial election information. On election day 2008, we had a team of volunteers dispersed around the state to respond to problems as they arose. Finally, after the election, we analyzed voters’ experiences and issued a post-election report with policy recommendations for the New Mexico Legislature.
We have launched a new election protection project for the June 5 Primary Election and the November 6 General Election in New Mexico during 2012. For more information, please contact Diane Wood, Voting Rights Director, Common Cause New Mexico at (505) 379-9470 or dwood@commoncause.org.
