Voter Info

Albuquerque's municipal election will be held on Tuesday, October 4. Four city council positions are on the ballot, along with several bond issues and a proposition regarding the red-light camera program. For more information about what's on the ballot, click here. Also, the League of Women Voters of Central New Mexico has assembled an excellent voter guide for this election. The online version is available here.

Am I Registered?
To find out whether you're currently registered to vote, call the Bernalillo County Clerk at 468-1291 or use the online Voter View service (click here).

Early and Absentee Voting
As always, voters are encouraged to vote prior to Election Day. The voter may either vote at an early voting site or vote using an absentee ballot.

Voters who wish to vote early can do so Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at one of nine early voting locations. For a list of sites, click here.

Voters who wish to vote by absentee ballot may request a ballot at any time prior to 5 p.m. on September 30, 2011. The two easiest ways to do this are to send an email to absenteeapplication@cabq.gov or call 311. The voter must provide the following information: (1) the voter's name, (2) the address where the voter is registered to vote, (3) the voter's date of birth, and (4) the address to which the voter would like the application mailed, if different from the voter's registered address.

Vote Centers
One thing that's quite different about this year's election is that voters will not need to go to an assigned polling place to cast a regular ballot on Election Day. This year, voters can go to any one of 49 different vote centers scattered throughout the city. Click here for a map of the vote centers so you can find the one that's most convenient for you.

Voter Photo ID

One important difference between Albuquerque elections and other New Mexico elections is that to vote on a regular ballot voters are required by city law to present a photo ID to vote in Albuquerque elections. If you do not bring a photo ID to the polling place, you will be allowed to vote on a provisional ballot.
